MAKE TODAY COUNT

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do." — Ephesians 5:15–17

Don’t just go through the motions today, live it with intentional purpose. Every moment matters and every opportunity is an invitation to be kingdom focused.

Paul doesn’t say "stay busy", he says understand what the Lord wants you to do. That means you have a purpose and an assignment for today! If you don't know what that is, it may be time to slow down, pay attention, and seek His face. Too often we fill our days with activity but miss obedience. Don't let that be you today!

So, before you rush into your schedule and routine, ask Him what He wants you to do. Before you make a decision, invite Him into it. Make the most of your opportunities today.

You have no idea what tomorrow holds.

Principles:

You have a purpose for today, not just someday.

You don’t have to wait to live a purposeful life. It has already been given to you, you just have to find it deep within and live it out!

Busyness is not the same as obedience.

Don’t confuse kingdom activity with kingdom alignment. We have been called to build the Kingdom of God. Fight the urge to do just good things in “the name of the Lord”. Make sure it’s what God desires.

Every moment is an opportunity to advance the Kingdom.

Whatever you find yourself doing today, whether it’s being part of a meeting, running an errand, texting a friend, do it for the glory of God! Give honor to Him. Speak of His faithfulness. Pray over a hard situation. Share the hope of Jesus.

Reflect

  • What is it that the Lord wants you to do today? Be specific (fight being vague).

  • Recall what you spent time doing yesterday, last week, last month. Would someone describe your life as making the most of every opportunity? If not, why not?
